WHAT IS AN APPRAISAL REPORT
Reports may vary slightly from each appraiser. In general the report will include: the specific valuation that was the basis for the report, definition of value, item description, appraisal methodology, item condition, limiting and qualifying conditions, appraiser’s certification and qualifications, item history and genealogy and the dollar value of the item(s). CAN YOU JUST TELL ME ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WORTH
For several reasons it is unlikely an appraiser will know the current value of an item without performing research. 1) Value is driven by the market and markets change frequently. 2) You are assuming the appraiser has intimate knowledge of the item, which is unlikely. In addition, if you are interested in selling a valuable item, would you feel comfortable with just a guess as the basis for your asking price. Note: the popularity of “The Antique Road Show” program has heightened the interest in having personal property appraised. Because of the time constraints inherent in a TV program they show only the interesting part of the appraisal process which is the result. Unknowing to most viewers is the hours of research performed off-camera that enables the host appraisers to deliver the dramatic news.

It is unethical for your appraiser to have a personal interest in the value of what is being appraised. WHAT IF THERE IS NOT AN APPRAISER IN MY AREA
Since this is a large country and qualified appraisers are scattered from coast-to-coast, there may well be some areas where a qualified appraiser is not conveniently located. In this case, you will promptly be notified and, if possible, and with your approval, we will provide you with an appraisal using the expertise and experience of one of our on-staff certified appraisers. HOW LONG DOES AN APPRAISAL TAKE
Appraisers work at different speeds and will have varying amounts of work they must complete before they begin working on your appraisal. You will be fully informed of the process by your local appraiser. Most appraisals are completed within several weeks after the appraiser’s initial visit.

HOW MUCH DOES THE ACTUAL APPRAISAL COST
APPRAISALREFERRAL.COM does not influence or negotiate the professional’s fee. Our referral appraisers, who are accredited under the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, and have agreed to operate ethically and fairly under these standards, when contacting you will discuss his or her credentials, the appraisal fee, convenient scheduling, and answer any questions you might have. We highly recommend you fully understand the total fee you are responsible for before the appraisal begins.
