Personal
property is defined as tangible, movable property that is functional,
collectible, decorative or a combination of the three. Personal
property items are generally classified into three primary specialties:
ANTIQUES
AND DECORATIVE ARTS Antiques are properties with appreciation
values for reasons of age, craftsmanship, artistic merit and/or
historical significance. (An antique is at least 100 years old.)
Decorative arts are crafted properties, appreciation in value, for
reasons of design, function and aesthetic merit. Some common items
include: furniture, books, rugs & carpets, glass, metalware,
pottery, toys, porcelain, icons, ceramics, textiles, cameras, prints
& posters, watches, clocks, flatware.
FINE
ARTS Fine arts are usually artistic and aesthetic objects
only. Some of the more common items of fine arts include: paintings,
drawings, bronzes, sculptures, photographs and prints.
GENERAL
HOUSEHOLD CONTENTS Include basic residential or business
items that serve a useful purpose, normally but not necessarily,
depreciating with use. Some common items include: sofas, chairs,
tables, appliances, office equipment.
