We are able to appraise your book without you sending it to us. In most cases, we can properly appraise your book(s) from pictures and photocopies. If you are able to fax us your information it is likely we can appraise your book in a matter of days. However, in order to maintain your book’s value you may want to send it to us and have us restore/repair it while it is being appraised.

FORMAL BOOK APPRAISAL.

Once we receive your book or the information about your book we begin the research process. We will gather all available pertinent information about your book, including but not limited to; the printing history, market comparables, genealogy and rarity, which will help to determine it’s current market value. All your detailed information will be included in a typed, certified appraisal report that will be mailed to you within several weeks after receiving your information and payment.

When a formal appraisal is not necessary, then a less formal, e-mail appraisal may be appropriate. The e-mail appraisal is a less expensive alternative that gives you the general valuation. You may not be interested in a detailed history of your book, but simply the approximate value so you can make an informed decision about selling, buying, repairing or insuring.

An e-mail appraisal is our opinion of the book’s general value, based on 30 years of senior accredited book appraising experience. The value is an informed opinion derived from experience, as opposed to an amount arrived through the standard practices and procedures of a certified, formal appraisal. You will receive only a simple statement of what we believe the general value is in today’s market. If we determine your book is worth less then $25.00, we will tell you so, and refund your money. The information we must have in order to complete the appraisal include title, author, publisher, dates on front and back of title page (if any), and general description of condition.
